The Women’s Fund is a foundation that supports women and girls. It’s simple, only 7% of philanthropic dollars are spent on programs for women and girls-that’s not enough, and we work to change that.

She’s outspoken, maybe even a little unpredictable, and even then it is always with respect and humor. She’s not just a comedian, actor, mother, humanitarian, and talk show host-she’s Whoppi!

Platinum ticket holders will start the evening with a reception featuring a five-star dinner showcasing local foods and hand-crafted Bicentennial cocktails using products from Columbus-based Watershed Distillery. Entertainment will be provided by more than 200 guest musicians and vocalists throughout the night, including Bobby Floyd. The premiere live performance of the official Bicentennial Anthem will be performed by the 2012 Bicentennial Band, made up of local acts including MojoFlo and Conspiracy performing on stage at the same time. In addition, many VOICES OF COLUMBUS will inspire attendees with surprise in-person and satellite presentations.

The celebration kicks up a notch at 8 p.m. Gold ticket holders will join the party, and local food favorites, special presentations from Mayor Michael B. The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio and WOSU Public Media invite you to an evening of intelligent conversation with Abby Disney.

She is a philanthropist. She is a social change agent. She is a voice for women and girls around the world. This fall, her series Women, War and Peace will debut in prime time on our local PBS station through WOSU Public Media.

Abby’s journey as a filmmaker began with Pray the Devil Back to Hell which documents how women moved Liberia from civil war to peace with the first elected woman as president of an African nation. Today, both the film and the women of Liberia serve as inspiration to women in other parts of the world who are struggling to attain rights, peace and security.
